We encountered a few challenges in this project including delays from the client with the main power, water and gas supplies. Due to the site services coming in much later than originally planned for JGM had to squeeze the full M&E commissioning works into a three-week period with no additional delays to the original client handover date. We worked in conjunction with the main contractor and our own in-house operatives and specialist sub-contractors to ensure that the commissioning was successful, and the handover would be granted as required.
JGM held weekly progress meetings with the delivery and design teams, carrying out risk assessment and issuing method statements for review and approval prior to the works taking place. All working practices were continually updated and managed effectively throughout to ensure the project ran smoothly, due to the delays from the client side JGM adapted working practices to ensure the project was brought back on track as a matter of urgency. Our project managers held daily briefings and toolbox talks as required with the operatives and sub-contractors to ensure that all information was communicated to the individuals undertaking the specific tasks. Additional protection measures were implemented ensuring site safety, including the use of signage to alert our own operatives as well as all contractors and site visitors to the dangers of our works.
JGM managed to ensure the project was completed on time, on budget and to a standard exceeding our client’s own expectations. JGM have worked with Hadden Construction on numerous projects and have built a well-respected and long-standing relationship with the construction firm. We look forward to working with Hadden again in the future to delivery more excellent projects similar to that of Doune Health Centre.
