JGM were contracted by Live Active to upgrade the lighting in the main sports hall of Bell’s Sports Centre.
This project consisted of the removal of 180 existing high bay luminaires in 4 concentric circles and replacing them with upgraded LED luminaires helping to reduce the sports centres energy usage. The two outer circles involved a like for like replacement, whilst the upper two circles had a reduced quantity of 50%, further reducing the electrical consumption for the sports hall. The project involved working at height from 5 metres up to 14 metres which required a mobile alloy tower for the lower levels and rope access for the higher levels. Specialist rope access company, HAKI UK was employed to remove and install the luminaires in the top 2 rings.
The LED luminaires were manufactured by Holophane, and their engineer was employed to commission the system and set up the lighting levels to suit the client’s requirements. Wireless nodes and scene plates were also installed to control the lighting, with the scene plates set to achieve the desired lux level dependent on the activities taking place within the hall.
The system was commissioned with the lighting levels set up to suit the client’s requirements.
