JGM is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Martin Rennie as Health and Safety Manager.
Martin brings with him a wealth of experience having worked at management level in the health and safety industry for 16 years.
Martin’s responsibility with the company is to devise and implement robust health and safety and environmental systems whilst giving support and advice to directors, managers, operatives and staff to ensure compliance with current legal standards.
In Martin’s own words:
Any person coming to work should be provided with enough information, training, instruction and equipment to enable them to go home safe and healthy at the end of each shift.
This isn’t the first connection Martin has with JGM. While working as an apprentice electrician with Charles Kelly and Co Ltd, the two companies worked closely together, lending each other operatives during busy times.
After completing his apprenticeship, Martin went on to work as an instrument technician on major construction projects in oil and gas and nuclear power installations. It was during this time that he first became involved in health and safety, initially as a workforce health and safety committee representative. Martin went on to study the subject, gaining qualifications to NEBOSH Diploma level. He is currently working towards a BA in Health and Safety Management which he will complete this August.
Martin is also a qualified trainer with qualifications in teaching in the lifelong learning sector (PTLLS) and has taught courses at the CITB and the National Construction College. He worked as a freelance health and safety trainer and consultant for four years before taking up the Health and Safety Manager position with JGM.
